4 businessmen in court for allegedly stealing burglary proof

SOME four businessmen on Thursday appeared in a Gwagwalada Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing five burglary proof parts valued at N300,000.
The defendants, Abudulahi Abubakar, 48; Emmanuel Onuoha, 55; Mani Yahaya, 38; and Bashir Musa, 42; residents of Gwagwalada, Abuja, were charged with criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abudulahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Michael Sunday, reported the matter at the police station on Nov. 11, 2020.
He said that the defendants conspired and stole five burglary proof parts valued at N300,000 belonging to the complainant.
The prosecution counsel said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence counsel, A.C. Oluwa, prayed the court to grant the defendants bail in the most liberal terms, assuring that they would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Aliyu Shafa admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Shafa ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present means of identification.
He adjourned the case until March 4, for hearing.
