FOUR people were killed and six others injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Benguet province in the northern Philippines before dawn on Monday, local police said.

Police said the crash occurred at about 4.00 a.m. along a highway in a village near Tuba town and directly involved three trucks.

According to the Police, the driver of a speeding garbage truck lost control and rear-ended a dump truck. The impact sent the dump truck to swerve to the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming trailer truck, the Police added.

Police said the four, who died at the scene, were all male. Those injured were taken to a hospital for treatment, they added.

However, the Police did not provide details of those who were killed and injured in the accident. (Xinhua/NAN)
