4 kidnapped Catholic Reverend Sisters regain freedom

THE Sisters of Jesus the Saviour has announced the release of four of its abducted members.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement signed by Zita Ihedoro, the secretary general of the congregation.
“With heart full of joy, the Sisters of Jesus the Saviour wish to announce the unconditional and safe release of four of our sisters, who were abducted around Okigwe-Umulolo axis on the 21st of August, 2022,” the statement said.
While expressing appreciation for their release, Ihedoro said: “We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your prayers and moral supports during this difficult moment.”
It was reported that the four Reverend Sisters were kidnapped last Sunday at Okigwe-Umulolo axis in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State on their way to a thanksgiving mass of one of their colleagues in the Local Goverment Area.
The sisters were recognized as Reverend Sisters, Johannes Nwodo, Christabel Echemazu, Liberata Mbamalu and Benita Agu.
Meanwhile, Vanguard reported today that Michael Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer was yet to respond to the report of the release of the Reverend Sisters.
