49-year-old man in court for allegedly stealing rented chairs, tables

A 49-year-old man, Tunde Ayodeji, on Monday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing six dozens of chairs, four tables and a pot worth N235,000.

The police charged Ayodeji with theft under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that Ayodeji committed the offence on Jan. 22 at 9 a.m., at No. 9, Ibidapo St., Ijon Village, Ayobo, Lagos.

Emuerhi said the defendant stole six dozens of chairs, four tables and a pot worth N235,000, property of Mrs Stella Ayodeji, which he rented for a party.

He told the court that the defendant rented the items for a party and later sold the items.

Chief Magistrate J.A. Adegun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until March 2 for further hearing. (NAN)
