He said: “Alhaji Ado Bayero is one of the most respected oases in Nigeria, a nation builder and one of the pillars of Nigerian Nationhood. In the most difficult and turbulent moment of our history, he has always served as a stabilising force, always offering words of hope and wisdom.  He is without doubt, one of the greatest patriots of our time; with an unquestionable commitment to unity and stability of Nigeria.” He described Kano under the reign of Ado Bayero as prosperous and as one of the greatest cities of Africa, “whose prosperity has continued to soar, in the areas of commerce and Islamic and western education. “

Kwankwaso appreciated the invaluable advice and wise counsel of the octogenerian and lauded his leadership qualities. He urged the people of Kano and beyond to continue to offer prayers for peace and harmony in Nigeria.

In his address, Bayero said he was grateful to God for sparing his life to see such a glorious day. Today, it is 50 years since I ascended to this throne as Emir of Kano; in those years a lot of things both positive and negative had happened. Therefore, I would like to use this opportunity to ask any person I wronged in any way in these 50 years to please forgive me as I also forgive you all.” Ado Bayero was crowned in 1963.
