PROF. Chinedum Babalola, Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Abeokuta, says the institution is set to honour 10 graduating students with First Class.
Babalola disclosed this on Monday in Abeokuta during a news conference held ahead of institution’s 5th convocation ceremony, coming up on Tuesday.
The vice chancellor explained that out of 91 graduands, 10 would be honored with First Class Honors, 49 would receive Second Class Upper Division, 26 would be awarded Second Class Lower Division, and six students will graduate with Third Class Division.
According to her, the university takes pride in producing graduates with a variety of academic achievements across different disciplines.
Babalola emphasised that Chrisland University aims to cultivate entrepreneurial trailblazers rather than individuals seeking traditional white-collar jobs.
she also explainedthat the university places a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship and provides mandatory programmes to develop students’ entrepreneurial skills in their chosen fields.

She added that upon completion of their programmes, graduates not only receive academic degrees but also entrepreneurship certificates, affirming their readiness to become business entrepreneurs and innovators.
“We are raising business entrepreneurs, inventors and not just graduates who are seeking for white collar jobs out there,” she said.
The vice chancellor stated that all academic programmes offered by the university’s four colleges had received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), while expressing the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards.
In addition to academic excellence, she said that Chrisland University prioritises the safety and conducive learning environment for its students while collaborating with security agencies to secure its premises and promote a safe atmosphere for learning.
She added that the convocation events would include a lecture delivered by Prof. Toyin Falola, an African Historian, from the University of Texas and a Night of Drama and Cultural Display.
“Dignitaries expected to attend the convocation include the founder and Chancellor of Chrisland University, Dr (Mrs) Winifred Awosika, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, among others,” she said. (NAN)
