6 schools eye N2.5m prize in KW-IRS tax club quiz competition

SIX secondary schools in Kwara have qualified for the final stage of the 2024 Tax Club Quiz Competition being organised by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the competition is being organised in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

The preliminary stage of the computer-based test (CBT) competition was held between June and July, with 83 schools participating and 12 schools qualifying for the semi-finals.

The Head, Corporate Affairs of KW-IRS, Funmilola Oguntunbi, told NAN in Ilorin on Thursday that six finalists have emerged after the semi-finals held between Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The qualifying schools include Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Asa Dam; Government Secondary School, Lafiagi; and Shepherd Secondary School, Lafiagi.

“The rest are Government Day Secondary School, Gaa-Akanbi; Kwara State College of Education Model Secondary School, Oro; and Anglican Boys’ Academy, Oro.

“The six schools will compete for the N2.5m grand prize at the competition’s final stage scheduled for Ilorin on Nov. 7,” she said.

NAN reports that the competition’s monitoring was done by members of KW-IRS Tax Club Advocacy Committee and the Kwara Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development’s representative, Mrs Roseline Ayansola.(NAN)
