60-year-old man docked for allegedly stealing N65,000

THE police on Thursday arraigned a 60-year-old man, Ade Usman, in a Kado Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his housemate’s N65,000.

The defendant, who resides in Gishiri, Abuja is charged with theft

The Prosecution Counsel, Ferdinand Orji, told the court the complainant, Adenike Afolabi, of the same address reported the matter at the Mabushi Police Station on Aug.16.

He further alleged that the defendant on Aug.15 stole N65,000 from the N180,000 the complainant kept in the house.

Orji also said that there was no sign of forced entry, neither did anyone have access to the room where the money was kept, except the defendant and complainant

He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Mohammed Wakili admitted the defendant to a bail of N100,000 and a reliable surety in like sum.

Wakili also adjourned the matter until Oct.4,for hearing( NAN)
