No fewer than 6,055 rural women have so far been paid over N60 million in Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa under the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the CCT is a Federal Government scheme aimed at helping people exit poverty line.
The Council’s Coordinator, Cash Transfer Unit, Alhaji Mohammed Garba-Hadin, made this known in Kaugama on Tuesday during the funds disbursement.
He said that each beneficiary received a stipend of N10, 000 for the months of October and November.
Garba-Hadin said that the women were drawn from the council’s eight wards including Ja’e, Yalo, Marke, Dakaiyyawa, unguwar-Jibrin, Jarkasa and Hadin.
The other areas to benefit from the scheme in the state are Auyo, Guri, Gwiwa, Jahun, Kiyawa, Miga, Roni and Taura.
The cocoordinator said that the disbursement was ongoing and urged those who were yet to receive their money to report to their ward’s facilitators with valid identity cards for payments.
He listed the conditions for accessing the funds to include evidences of immunisation, antenatal attendance and environmental sanitation participation.
Alhaji Ahmed Abdulhamid, the Council’s Vice Chairman had expressed satisfaction on the scheme, promising to provide the necessary administrative support for its successful implementation in the communities.
He said that the scheme had assisted several poor people in starting their small scale businesses and to become self-reliant. (NAN)
