70-yr-old in court for alleged N60,000 land fraud

A 70-year-old man, Olatunde Atanda, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for  alleged N60,000 land fraud.

Atanda, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretence.

He pleaded not guilty to the two count charges preferred against him.

The Prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences sometimes in 1994, at Ido area of Ibadan.

Balogun said the defendant obtained the sum of N60, 000 to sell five and half acres of land to Joseph Olarinde, but failed to do so then.

He said the offences contravened Sections 517 and 419 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 19, for hearing.(NAN)
