8 injured in Kabul University of Afghanistan, as fire exchanges continue

A second blast rocked the Kabul University based in Afghanistan’s capital on Monday while fire exchanges between security forces and militants are still on.

So far, according to officials, eight injured persons related to the incident have been taken to hospital.

According to Interior Ministry Spokesman, Tareq Arian, hundreds of students and university staff have been rescued and operations are underway to bring the situation under control.

The militants, at around 11:10 a.m. local time on Monday, after exploding an explosive device at the eastern gate of the university, entered its compound and started firing.

The second blast rocked the university’s northern gate at around 03:20 p.m. local time amid gunshots and rescue operations to take out all those trapped in the crossfire. (Xinhua/NAN)
