80 Sold-out stadiums to cover THIS PL club's biggest summer signing
Sports
THE Premier League Summer Transfer Window officially closed at the end of last month, and despite a near-billion pound drop in transfer spending compared to last season, over £2.04 Billion was spent on signings, making it the second-highest-spending window of all time, with Dominic Solanke and Pedro Neto being the most expensive signings.
Interested, SeatPick wanted to uncover which Premier League club needs to sell out the most home games to recoup the costs of their most expensive summer signing.
Highlights from the research:
- Bournemouth would need to sell out the most home games (80) to make back Evanilson’s £40.2 million signing fee
- They have one of the lowest average ticket costs compared to other clubs like Arsenal and Fulham who have spent less on transfers this summer
- Despite Leny Yoro having the highest transfer fee and Manchester United having the largest stadium capacity in the Premier League, they still rank 10th, needing 15 sell-outs
- Arsenal has the highest average ticket price (£85.75), needing just eight sellouts to cover Riccardo Calafiori’s £42 million transfer fee.
- Everton’s most expensive transfer fee is the lowest of all clubs (£17 million) and they need to sell out the second-lowest number of home games (eight)
- Manchester City needs to sell out their stadium the least of all clubs (seven)

Bournemouth needs to sell out most home games to recoup Evanilson’s transfer fee
SeatPick can reveal that AFC Bournemouth would need to sell out the most home games to cover Evanilson’s £40.2 million signing fee, the equivalent of selling 903,371 tickets, which is the second-highest number of tickets after Manchester United. The striker joined Bournemouth in August from FC Porto, just before the club’s opening game of the season, and considering he scored 25 goals for Porto last season, Bournemouth could look forward to a similar performance this season.
Brentford are in second place, needing to sell out 33 home games at the Community Stadium to make back Igor Thiago’s £30 million transfer fee.The Bees signed Thiago from Club Brugges at the start of July but the centre-forward sadly suffered a meniscus injury against AFC Wimbledon, ruling him out until the end of the year.
Nottingham Forest follows in third place, needing to sell out 26 home games at the City Ground (or 777,778 tickets) to cover Elliot Anderson’s £5 million transfer fee. Anderson joined Forest in June and despite receiving a yellow card against Wolves, he assisted Chris Wood with a corner to score the opening goal, to earn a 1-1 draw.
In fourth place is Brighton, needing to sell out 22 home games at the AMEX Stadium (or 714,286 tickets) to cover Georginio Rutter’s £40 million transfer fee. Rutter joined Brighton in August from Leeds and though hasn’t had much pitch time yet, he scored six goals for his former club last season so Brighton could look forward to a similar performance this season.
In joint fifth place with Fulham is Crystal Palace, who would need to sell out 20 home games (or 508,475 tickets) at Selhurst Park to make back Eddie Nketiah’s £30 million transfer fee. Fulham would need to sell out the same number of home games, despite having a similar stadium capacity and higher ticket costs.
Manchester United is in 10th place, needing to sell out 15 home games at Old Trafford to recoup the costs of their most expensive signing, Leny Yoro, whose transfer fee cost £52 million. Out of all Premier League clubs, they would need tosell the most tickets to do this (1,106,383). The centre-back joined the club from Lille in July but sadly suffered an ankle injury on his second appearance for the club against Arsenal, and isn’t expected to return until October.
In second-last place is Everton, who would need to sell out Goodison Park eight times to make back Jake O’Brien’s £17 million transfer fee from Olympique Lyon who had the lowest signing fee out of all clubs. To do this, The Toffees would need to sell 309,091 tickets. O’Brien joined The Toffees at the end of July, despite being on the bench for all of their Premier League games so far, he claimed an assist in the EFL Cup game against Doncaster recently, so is already showing promise.
Trailing at the bottom is Manchester City, who would only need to sell out the Etihad Stadium seven times to recoup Savinho’s £21 million signing fee, the equivalent of 358,974 tickets. Despite being at the top of the Premier League table, their transfer spend is one of the lowest compared to other clubs.
