Businessman in court over alleged breach of trust, cheating

THE Police on Wednesday arraigned a 43-year-old businessman, Ibrahim Shehu, in a Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged breach of trust and cheating.
Shehu of Annuri Motors, Sokoto, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on breach of trust and cheating, offences he denied committing.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Rabi’u, told the court that the offences were committed on March 27.
He said that the defendant sold a Honda Civic car to one Shagari Harande of College of Education, Sokoto, for N500, 000.
The prosecutor said that after using the vehicle for a month, Harande returned the car to the defendant to resale.
He alleged that after the defendant sold the car, he converted the money to his personal use.
Rabi’u said that the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
Chief Magistrate Abubakar Adamu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until April 16 for mention.
