Beauty Istifanus, reigning Miss Ambassador for Peace, has a passion for caring for disadvantaged Nigerians
| By Ishaya Ibrahim | Dec. 24, 2012 @ 01:00 GMT
BEAUTY Istifanus, the reigning Miss Ambassador for Peace Nigeria 2012, believes wholeheartedly in the rights of the less privileged. This passion was behind her decision to enter for the Miss Ambassador for Peace 2012 contest which she won on September 25. Ever since, she has been involved in a number of programmes to bring succor to disadvantaged Nigerians.
For instance, shortly after the November 25 bomb blasts, which rocked the military protestant church at the Command and Staff College, Jaji in Kaduna State, Istifanus, swiftly mobilised resources to help the injured who were rushed to the Barau Dikko Memorial hospital, Kaduna. She has also visited a number of motherless babies’ homes to show support to the kids there. She said she would love to do more but for the paucity of funds. She enjoined governments at all levels as well as the private sector to support her projects.
The Peace Ambassador has, apart from helping the less privileged, also been mobilising and telling Nigerians they need to live in peace with one another. The mobilisation has taken her to Niger and Kaduna States where she held peace rallies. She hails from Kaduna State and is a 300-level student of the University of Jos, where she is studying Mass Communication.
The Miss Peace Ambassador initiative is a beauty pageant whose winners become peace mobilisers in Nigeria. The selection process starts with the public voting for their preferred contestants. Thereafter, a panel would subject the shortlisted contestants to thorough scrutiny.
