AAC Abia State Chapter condemns tragic killing of Emmanuel N. Okocha by Police Officers*

THE African Action Congress, AAC, Abia State Chapter says that it is deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic and unjust killing of Emmanuel Okocha, a respected businessman from Abiriba by police officers attached to the Abayi Police Station around Afule Junction, Aba, Abia State on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
The statement by Ezumaibe Kelechiukwu, State Chairman, AAC, Abia State Chapter, said that the loss of Okocha under such distressing circumstances was a stark reminder of the urgent need for accountability and transparency in law enforcement.
“The AAC stands firmly against any form of police misconduct and the unjust use of force and we demand a thorough and impartial investigation into this deeply troubling incident.
“The African Action Congress (AAC) Abia State Chapter calls on the relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served for Okocha and his family. We urge for a swift and transparent investigation into this matter, and for the responsible parties to be held accountable for their actions.
“As the State Chairman of the African Action Congress, AAC, in Abia State, I extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Emmanuel N. Okocha. We stand in solidarity with the Community of Abiriba and all those affected by this tragic loss.
“The African Action Congress, AAC, remains committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of all citizens, and we will continue to actively engage with the relevant authorities to address issues of police misconduct and ensure that such devastating incidents do not recur in the future.
“We call on all well-meaning citizens to join us in demanding for justice for Okocha and in upholding the principles of fairness, accountability and respect for human rights,” the statement said.
