Oberaifo, Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the Sept. 21 Governorship election in Edo, has commended Gov. Godwin Obaseki for a peaceful protest in Benin.

Oberaifo also commended the police command for providing security and showing patriotism towards the youths by outlining the modalities for the protest.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday in Benin, Oberaifo said being in the opposition does not mean that he would turn a blind eye to the truth when he saw one.

“Today, I commend Obaseki for his role in the Aug. 1 protest.

“While we have previously critiqued his administration, it’s important to acknowledge this show of leadership and patriotism.

“Expecting perfection from any leader is inhumane. Obaseki has made some commendable policies that will stand the test of time in Edo State.

“It’s a significant move aligning with the voices of our youth demanding change, ” he said.

Oberaifo, however, stated that although Obaseki had some policies to his credit, Edo people had not fared better in the health sector, security and agriculture, among others.

” If elected as governor of Edo, our AAC government will prioritise the security of lives and property, as it is a right for every Edo citizen to be safe and secured.

“As candidates, we must address issues, not attack individuals or parties.

”Governance is not rocket science. Edo People must elect leaders who truly mean well for them, ” he said. (NAN)
