PETER Breunij, a German archaeologist, and Johannes Buringer, his associate, who were abducted by gun men in Jenjela village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State have regained their freedom.
According to the Police in Kaduna, that the Germans were released by their abductors in Kateri village, along the Kaduna-Abuja road on Saturday, February 25, evening following an intense manhunt of the abductors by the Police.
The sources said Breunij and Buringer were taken to the German embassy in Abuja after their release.
Their abductors had demanded for N60 million as ransom, but the Police source did not say whether the ransom was paid.
The source did not also say whether any arrest was made in connection with the incident.
The Germans who were said to be working in collaboration with the National Commission for Museum and Monuments on the relics of Nok culture in Nigeria were abducted at a site in Jenjela village.
Two of the Nigerians working with them at the site and who attempted to rescue them during the incident, were killed by the gun men.
