The senator representing Rivers South East, Magnus Abe, has rejected the adoption of Tonye Cole as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State by the party’s National Working Committee.
Cole and Abe had emerged as candidates at two parallel governorship primaries held in the state on Sunday.
But Abe, who spoke with journalists in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Friday, said he would never accept the list of governorship candidates released by APC’s NWC.
Abe explained that it was injustice for the NWC to adopt an aspirant who came into the party recently as its candidate.
The lawmaker said he would approach the panel set up by the party with a view to upturning Cole’s adoption.
Abe, however, said he was still committed to the APC and the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the President’s integrity was the factor sustaining the party. – Punch
