Abu Dhabi Police Organizes Awareness Lectures for School Bus Drivers

IN line with the Traffic Awareness Plan for 2016, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police spread awareness among 180 school bus drivers of Emirates Transport.

Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Abu Dhabi Police, said that the Traffic Awareness Plan aims to enhance the traffic culture of the public in general in order to create an integrated safe traffic environment. He explained that the lectures provided to drivers focused on providing secure and safe transportation for students in order to reduce accidents and ensure the students’ well-being.

He said, “The awareness lecture delivered by Warrant Officer Ahmed Abdah elaborated on safe ways to board and exit school buses, and the proper ways of school bus seating. The lecture also highlighted the instruction given to drivers to stop at designated areas, the importance of activating the stop sign on the side of the bus, and ways to ensure that students are boarding and exiting buses safely.”

He added that real-life problems faced by drivers were discussed, such as the lack of cooperation from other drivers, technical problems, etc. He continued that the lectures also provided drivers with tips and instructions on traffic safety and traffic laws.
