Abubakar assumes duty as AIG Zone 14, solicits support of stakeholders

MR Yahaya Abubakar has assumed duty as Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 14 comprising Katsina and Kaduna States.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Gambo Isa, on Thursday in Katsina.

He said that the new AIG, who is a versatile police officer, is an indigene of Uba town in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa.

The PPRO said that Abubakar holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB. Hons) Degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

“He is also an alumnus of the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos,” he said.

According to Isa, the new AIG enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force, as a member of Cadet ASP Course 17 in May, 1992.

He revealed that the AIG served the Nigeria Police Force in different capacities, where he held several strategic positions.

Isa further said that AIG had served in two International Peace-Keeping Missions, including the UN in Liberia (UNMIL) and the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

Isa qouted the AIG as urging the critical stakeholders in the security sector to partner with the police to sustain the relative peace existing in the zone.

He also called for inter-agency cooperation and synergy in addressing emerging security challenges in both Kaduna and Katsina States.

The AIG further urged the public to give useful intelligence information to the police, assuring that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality it deserves, to protect the sources.(NAN)
