AS Nigeria celebrates its 62nd independence anniversary, the President of ACCI, Dr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar has urged friendly business policies that will transform the SMEs sector for greater economic development.
This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday night in Abuja to commemorate Nigeria’s 62nd independence anniversary.
While congratulating Nigerians on behalf of the executive council and management of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI),
Abubakar urged government at all levels to find lasting solutions to challenges confronting the SMEs sector.
According to him, the Nigerian economy will grow if the sector is vibrant.
“What we need is to put policies in place that will help the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector that is bedevilled with so many challenges such as multiple taxations, lack of infrastructure and poor access to funding,” he said.
He further said that as Nigeria gets set for general elections scheduled for 2023, those vying for elective positions should set agenda that would be beneficial to the business community.
“As a foremost chamber of commerce, we are passionate about the growth and development of the SMEs sector as the engine of the economy.
“We enjoin the government to do what it takes to help the sector to compete favourably with SMEs in developed world,” the ACCI boss said.
Abubakar prayed for unity and a peaceful Nigeria, where ease of doing business would be fostered. (NAN)
