SOME vendors at the ongoing Abuja International Trade Fair (AITF) have expressed disappointment over the low influx of customers, resulting in poor sales.

While some vendors expressed delight at the level of patronage they received, many told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday that they sold below expectations.

However, others have reported satisfactory patronage. The fair, organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), concludes today, October 1.

Mrs Aisha Yusuf, CEO of Naisha Couture, noted that this year’s turnout was significantly poorer compared to 2023.

“There’s no cash flow in the economy,” she said, citing over 100 potential customers who expressed interest but failed to make a purchase.

Racheal Jonathan, a cosmetics vendor, attributed the poor sales to the harsh economic climate, inadequate promotion, and ill-timed scheduling, coinciding with school resumption.

“Many of my customers outside Abuja were unaware of the fair,” she added.

Another vendor, CEO of Oganaese Fabrics, made similar sentiments, stating, “Sales have not been fantastic…most people can barely feed, let alone spend on non-essentials”.

In contrast, Mr Alexander Yisa, a natural hair products vendor, reported satisfactory sales, in spite of a decline in the latter stages of the fair.

ACCI Director-General, Mr Agabaidu Jideani, acknowledged the feedback and assured that organisers would strive to improve future events for the economic benefit of the public.(NAN)
