THE Association of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (ACMAN) is to partner with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to widen the scope of capital market education.
Prof. Uche Uwaleke, the President of ACMAN, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday.
Uwaleke said the association would also partner with the NSE and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers to organize seminars and workshops for lecturers in tertiary institutions.
According to him, the association intends to carry out more activities this year, including organizing an international conference on the capital market.
“Our activities slowed down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our contribution will be in the area of teaching and widening the scope of capital market education.
“We will also assist SEC in the development of capital market curriculum for tertiary institutions in the country.
“Our aim is to contribute to the development of the capital market in Nigeria through teaching and research,’’ he said.
Uwaleke called for a coordinated approach to drive the capital market inclusion project of the sector.
The professor of capital market advised SEC to constitute a committee comprising key stakeholders in the market to drive the project.
“Right now, efforts toward driving the market seem fragmented with regulators and operators working in silos,” he said. (NAN)
