He said that LASHMA was conducting sensitisation campaign to enlighten residents on the need to register to the health scheme
“The idea is to encourage more people to visit health facilities whenever the need arises without fear of encurring huge medical bills and to further discourage self-medication.
“Over time, people are scared of going to hospitals because of fear of huge hospital bills, they therefore do self medication
“The organisation brought this opportunity for all residents of Lagos State to benefit such that everyone will be able to enjoy affordable and quality health care.
“Even when there is an emergency, you can walk to any of the hospitals to get yourselves treated and stop worrying about whether you have money in your pocket or not,” he said.
The enrollment officer stated that there were hundreds of facility under the state’s health insurance scheme, and urged people to choose centres close to them.
According to Aare, LASHMA has no fewer than 857 healthcare providers under the scheme which comprised of primary and specialised healthcare providers.
