Accidents: Emir of Ilorin calls on drivers to exercise caution

THE Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara Traditional Rulers’ Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Friday called on drivers to exercise caution on the roads in order to prevent accidents.
Sulu-Gambari made the call in a condolence message issued in Ilorin by his Spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, to commiserate with the families of victims of Ilorin-Jebba Expressway accident in Ilorin.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 15 people died in the accident which occurred at Oko-Olowo, along Ilorin-Jebba Expressway on Wednesday.
The traditional ruler prayed for Almighty Allah to be pleased with the victim’s souls, and called on road users to drive with care in order to prevent the loss of lives and properties.
He urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to expedite actions towards keeping the road safe at all times.
Sulu-Gambari advised the leadership of transport unions and groups to embark on re-orientation programmes for their drivers.
He pointed out the need for commercial drivers to be sensitised in order to equip them with adequate knowledge and the rules of driving. (NAN)
