Achievers Award: Imo speaker emerges ‘most proactive speaker’ of the year

THE Speaker Imo House of Assembly, Mr Kennedy Ibeh, has emerged “Most Proactive Speaker” of the year 2022 at the just concluded online “Achievers Award”.

The award was organised by a Non Governmental Organisation, (NGO) Arise Africa Network of Nigeria.

In a letter to the speaker dated June 29 and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the NGO said Ibeh was voted the most proactive speaker based on his legislative track record and leadership style.

The letter further stated that under the leadership of Ibeh, Imo Assembly had passed bills that created more wealth in Imo.

The letter read in part, “Arise Africa Magazine Network is glad to notify you of your emergence as the most proactive speaker of the year.

“Sir, you scored a total of 12,800 votes to emerge winner of the contest against the runner-up, the Speaker of Bauchi, Mr Abubakar Suleiman,  who got 6, 250 votes, while the Speaker of Enugu State Assembly, Mr Edward Ubosi,  came 3rd with 4, 450 votes.

“The Achievers Award is an annual award powered by Arise Africa Magazine, a globally recognised accolade event aimed at celebrating and encouraging excellence in politics, sports, business, academics etc.

“It’s on record that you  possess  a good track record in the area of value creation and  human capital development, hence your emergence as most proactive speaker through an online voting poll”.

Meanwhile, the Publisher of Arise Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyanwu told The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone conversation that the award ceremony would soon be organised to celebrate the speaker and others who emerged winners in other field.

He described Ibeh as a down to earth lawmaker who is interested in people irrespective of their status or class.

Anyanwu applauded him for his proactive legislative prowess, vision, enterprise and giant contributions towards youth empowerment.

He added that the three arms of government in Imo have experienced stability under his watch, accelerated hearing on matters of public importance and human oriented bills to enhance the quality of life of citizens.

Meanwhile, Ibeh who confirmed the development to NAN in a telephone interview said: “Yes I received a letter from Arise Africa Magazine of my emergence as the most proactive speaker of the year.

“I was not aware during the process of the online exercise but I must tell you that I’m encouraged by this singular honour and to whom much is given, much is expected.

“I sincerely thank Gov. Hope Uzodimma who has shown me great support as a speaker and my constituency Obowo LGA for keeping faith with me and their numerous supports,” he said. (NAN)
