Adamawa CAN Chairman inaugurates school in IDP community

REV. Damin Mamza, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa Chapter, on Monday inaugurated Mission Primary School at an Internally- Displaced Persons (IDPs) community in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
Speaking during the inauguration, Mamza said that the aim is to give children a chance to be educated.
“The rationale behind establishing this school is to ensure that the vulnerable children are well educated so as to become responsible members of the community in future, he said.
Mamza urged parents to ensure the sustainability of the school considering the importance of education in contemporary life.
“I urge you to ensure thorough vigilance and make good use of the facility for the betterment of the future of your wards, especially considering the fact that the school is free.
He thanked “Mission Take Heart” for building the school, providing instructional materials, books, uniforms and payment of staff emoluments.
Mr Abdullahi Ahidjo, Divisional Inspection of Education, Girei LGA, thanked the CAN Chairman for his contributions to the development of education in the area.
He said the people of the area will remain grateful for the projects and urged the parents to take ownership of the school and ensure its maintenance for the benefit of the community.
Dr. Ibrahim Mustapha, District Head of Girei, expressed happiness for the gesture, adding that the project would change the education landscape of Girei for the better.
The News Agency of Nigeria NAN reports that the CAN Chairman presented 150 pieces of school uniform, 150 pieces of sandals and socks, 12 exercise books for each pupils, text books for all subjects for primary one to two, among other educational materials. (NAN)
