ADAMAWA began the distribution of relief items to victims of windstorm and flood in Demsa Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

The Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, said the gesture was to cushion the effect of the disasters on the victims and assured that 20 other affected local government areas would benefit.

She said government understood the challenges faced by the victims and described its gesture as a demonstration of love, compassion and empathy.

In his remarks, Dr Muhammed Suleiman, Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and not to sell them.

Suleiman listed relief items distributed to include rice, maize, guinea corn, mats, detergents, cement, roofing sheets and nails, among others.
