THE Adamawa Government says it has provided security and enabling environment for politicians and the electorate to exercise their franchise during the upcoming general elections in the state.

Malam Bashir Ahmad, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), stated this at the Jimeta stakeholders meeting organised by coalition of community based associations in Yola North Local Government Area on Monday.

Ahmad said that all political parties also have responsibility to mobilise their supporters to polling units on election days.

“Because whichever party fielding a candidate should make it a point of duty to canvas for votes,” he said.

He called on the electorate to re-elect Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri for a second term and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President on the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for more dividends of democracy.

Prof. Abba Tahir, Kakaki of Adamawa, appreciated the efforts of Fintiri for delivering dividends of democracy to the citizens unlike the previous administration.

According to him, in the last four years, security has been restored, salaries of public servants have been consistently paid, education and healthcare issues have been addressed, among others.

Tahir called on participants to also vote for the PDP presidential candidate, going by his track record as former vice president of Nigeria.

He said Atiku have built institutions, established systems, developed organisations and empowered individuals in all sectors.

According to him, Atiku is one of the largest employers of labour, among the biggest promoters of education, and one of the highest donors to charity in Nigeria.

Mr Shehu Ahmed, the Co-convener of the forum, said that the meeting was for stakeholders to understand the contributions of Fintiri in the state and the need for his re-election to continue with the good work he has started.

He called on the electorate to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready for the polls and to be peaceful. (NAN)
