ADSEMA distributes FG’s relief items to flood-ravaged LGAs

ADAMAWA State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) said it had distributed relief items donated by the Federal Government to most flood-affected Local Government Areas of the state.

Dr Suleiman Muhammad, Executive Secretary of the agency, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Yola.

NAN recalls that the Federal Government had on Oct. 13, handed over the items to the state government for distribution to victims of recent floods in the state.

The items included 1,400 bags of maize; 1,400 bags of beans; 1,400 bags of rice; 75 cartoons of tin tomatoes; 75 bags of salt; 1,000 cartons of seasoning cubes; and 75 gallons of 20 litres vegetable oil.

Others were 1,000 pieces of children wear, 1,000 pieces of women’s wear, 1,000 pieces of men’s wear, 1,000 pieces of mosquito nets, 600 cartons of toilet soap, 8,000 pieces of mats and 2,500 pieces of guinea brocade.

Suleiman said that the items were successfully distributed to the most affected LGAs, based on the level of devastation.

“Based on the directives of Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, we have handed over the items to council chairmen and the local emergency committees for distribution to victims at the local level.”

“Our staff are also monitoring the exercise at the local level to ensure that it reaches the beneficiaries,” he said.

Mr Joshua Bangi, Vice Chairman, Yola North Local Government Area, confirmed to NAN that the items had been received.

Bangi who is also the Chairman, Local Emergency Committee in the council, assured the government of judicious distribution to the victims within the week. (NAN)
