–

THE federal government has stepped into the industrial dispute between Aero Contractors and its demonstrating workers. Hadi Sirika, minister of state for Aviation, who addressed the workers in Lagos on Friday, September 2, said that the primary purpose of government is to encourage existing business and to provide jobs for the populace.

Speaking at the headquarters of Aero airlines in Lagos, Sirika said he paid an unscheduled visit and met demonstrating workers and appealed to them workers to disperse until Monday when he promised to return with a feedback after his meeting with Aero Management and other critical stakeholders, AMCON.

“We will look into your demands, and come out with solutions that are mutually beneficial to the staff, management and the government,” he said.

Speaking further, Hadi said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, government is committed to creating jobs and improving the general wellbeing of Nigerians as enshrined in its manifestos.

The workers unanimously agreed to the minister’s request to suspend the demonstration and disperse until Monday, September 5.

The minister who arrived amidst the demonstration also joined the workers in a show of solidarity. The workers earlier paid glowing tribute to the minister for not only intervening but coming in person in a rare show of humility.
