A Former Super Eagles midfielder, Friday Ekpo on Thursday, urged the Super Eagles handlers to put up new strategies going into the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Ekpo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that this was critical to the Eagles winning the final.

“ Another game plan is needed other than the usual that has been used; this is the final and must be handled as one, ” he said.

Ekpo, who featured in the 1992 AFCON in Senegal, said that the Eagles started the competition slowly.

“They picked up gradually like every other team. They put up a good fighting spirit and never backed down in the competition.

“I saw improvements from one match to another, and that’s commendable. Overall, they are doing well and good to play the final,” he said.

He, however, urged the players to play according to the coach`s game plan and bring their individual brilliance into the game so as to lit the cup.

“They shouldn’t play out of the field game plan; they should play as a team and play as a unit,” he said.

NAN reports that the Eagles will on Feb. 11, play against Cote d`Ivoire for the final of the 2023 AFCON. (NAN)
