AFCON 2023: SWAN President drums support for Super Eagles

THE President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Isaiah  Benjamin has urged sports journalists to give the Super Eagles all the necessary support to defeat Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday at the ongoing 2023 AFCON.

Benjamin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abidjan shortly after arriving for the tournament, that all hands must be on deck to achieve victory for Nigeria.

“On our part as sporting media, we have a big role to play in ensuring victory for our Super Eagles at this AFCON.

“We are playing the hosts tomorrow so let’s give the team all the support.

“Going forward, we will continue to give the team maximum support by ensuring fair report of their matches and all other activities at the 2023 AFCON,” he said.

The SWAN president  commended sports writers for the professional reportage of the competition so far, while assuring of looking into challenges faced by them.

“As a leadership, we are committed to ensuring that Sports Writers carry out their professional and constitutional duties without hitches,” he said.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria clash with Cote d’ivoire on Thursday in their second Group A duel, inside the  Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Ebimpe, Abidjan.(NAN)
