THE recent report by the African Bar Association’s Family Law Committee has listed 12 deceptive provisions promoting LGBTQ+ rights in the Samoa Agreement, sparking concerns over national sovereignty and cultural values.

The committee’s report highlights that these provisions not only undermine national sovereignty, but also promotes the LGBT agenda in Nigeria through EU-funded NGOs, businesses, and UN agencies
It will be recalled that the National Media Complaints Commission, NMCC, also known as Ombudsman on Tuesday, 24th September directed Daily Trust Newspaper to issue a formal apology to the Federal Government for their report that suggested that the SAMOA Agreement included provisions relating to LGBTQ+ rights and deemed the Daily Trust report inaccurate.
But this recent report by African Bar Association, which notes that although the SAMOA agreement didn’t state the LGBTQ+, the provisions of the treaty include Hidden LGBT Agenda such as the SOGI which is often used in human rights discussions to promote inclusivity, equality, and non-discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals.
The report also highlights the role of EU-funded NGOs, businesses and UN agencies in promoting LGBTQ+ rights in Nigeria.
