THE Africa Command, AFRICOM, Southern European Task Force, SETF, will partner Nigeria’s land forces to abate the activities of the Violent Extremist Organization, VEO, in Nigeria and the West African region.

Maj. Gen. Andrew M. Rohling, the Commander of U.S Army Southern European Task Force, Africa, disclosed this during a digital press briefing (Q&A session) from Fort Benning in Georgia, U.S. where the African Land Forces are currently holding the 10th annual Summit.

Gen. Rohling noted that the AFRICOM and SETF Africa had discussions with the land force commander from Nigeria to collaborate as well as with the Security Force Assistance Brigade, SFAB, to annihilate the rapid expansion of the Sahel-based VEOs in the West African Region.

He also noted that the African Land Forces Summit is a good avenue for force leaders to meet and dialogue for future opportunities in the their regions

Gen. Rohling was joined by Maj. Gen. Chikunkha Harrison Soko, Land Forces Commander, Republic of Malawi, who stated that some of the leadership skills, individual skills they have put in their respective armies have contributed to the security of African countries and that there were acquired from ALFS.

It is worth noting that the 10th ALFS will feature European military officers.

“What affects Europe, affects Africa.  What affects Africa, affects the whole of Europe,” Gen. Soko, said, while Gen. Rohling adding that the European allies of NATO are concerned about “the security and stability of Africa.”

The 10th Africa Land Force Summit with the theme; “Resilient Institutions Build Resilient Leaders” focuses on the importance of the foundational institutions, like training centers and the non-commissioned officer corps, has more than 35 of land forces commanders in attendance.
