THE Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) has begun a three-day training of its personnel on leadership and managerial skills.
In a speech at the event in Jos on Tuesday, the Director General of the agency, Dr Fabong Jemchang, said that the training was intended to stimulate optimal performance among the members of staff.
Jemchang said that because the agency was waxing stronger with huge expectations from its beneficiaries and the public, it required a very active workforce to meet those expectations.
”This leadership training is very key to the success and progress of this agency.
“When you have a staff population that is productive and has assimilated its core functions, such organisation is already on the right path.
”So, this training is about setting examples on practical leadership and followership skills geared toward having a virile and performing personnel,” he said.
Jemchang said that the training would avail the trainees the opportunity to cross-fertilise ideas and learn from each other.
The Director of Human Resources and Administration of the agency, Mrs Vicky Gyang, described the training as timely.
”Almost all the agency’s personnel are drawn from other agencies and majority are fresh graduates, who lack the requisite work experience.
”It is my belief that this training is going to contribute largely to improve their skills toward the success of the agency,” she said
A participant, Mrs Benita Ayodele, said the training was designed to equip them for greater efficiency.
Also, Mr Samuel Lyon and Mrs Benita Ayodele, thanked the agency for organising the programme.
They said that the exercise would enable them to carry out their official assignments optimally and satisfactorily. (NAN)(
