Agriculture
THE acting Programme Manager, Plateau Agricultural Development Programme PADP, Mr Simon Ago has called on farmers to adopt and adhere to good agricultural practices for high crop yield.
Ago told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos that PADP worked in collaboration with seeds companies and NGOs to teach and train farmers on good agricultural practices.
He added that good yield could be achieved if farmers would adopt good practices and also see themselves as critical stakeholders in the economy.
The manager said that PADP had carried out several extension deliveries and adaptive seed demonstration to farmers.
He said about 11,000 contacts had been made through village extension projects to carry out seeds demonstrations on the field that would boost production.
Furthermore , he said PADP, in collaboration with other agencies and international bodies, had conducted trainings for farmers in various villages in groups.
He, however, called on farmers to take the farming business seriously and use the many available platforms to learn new methods and practices that would maximise farm yields.(NAN)
