THE National Association of Sorghum Producers, Processors and Marketers of Nigeria (NASPPAM) in Gombe State has distributed inputs to no fewer than 2,700 farmers for the 2019 farming season.

Malam Usman Adamu, Chairman of the Disbursement Committee of the association made the disclosure in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Wednesday.

He said the association presented inputs to 2,700 farmers out of the 5,500 farmers registered in the state.

“We intend to give the input to 5,500 farmers and now we have already disbursed to 2,700 farmers and the exercise is still ongoing.

“We are giving them three bags of NPK and two bags of Urea fertilizers, Knapsack sprayer and herbicide for free and post emergence, liquid fertilizer and seed for one hectare of land,’’ Adamu said.

According to him, the beneficiaries are expected to pay back the loan with the commodity after harvest in batches of 40 per cent, 30 per cent and 30 per cent.

He said that the beneficiaries must understand that the inputs given to them was a form of loan and not their share of the national cake, hence the need to work hard to repay it on time for others to benefit.

Cross section of the beneficiaries thanked the Federal Government and the association for the gesture and assured that they would repay the loan on time. (NAN)
