AZUBUIKE Okoye, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has announced that Governor Willie Obiano provided N41 million for completion of a Health Centre at Agulu.
Okoye, a representative of Anaocha 1, at the state assembly, said that governor not only awarded the contract but completed the erosion site at Ifite Ani Village, Agulu.
He also awarded contract for the construction of several roads that were still ongoing.
He said this during a stakeholders meeting held at the `Political Palace’ of the traditional ruler of Agulu.
Meanwhile, some prominent indigenes of Agulu, Anaocha LGA used the opportunity provided by the meeting to unanimously express their support to Obiano to continue for the next four years.
Dan Ogbuefi, one of the stakeholders, noted that every zone in the country wanted to identify with a political party that could protect their interest.
“APGA is the only party that can stand to protect the rights of the Igbos, especially at this perilous time.’’
Ogbuefi, who described Obiano as the only candidate with pedigree to rule the state, urged Agulu people to eschew their religious and political differences and support the present government for continuity.
Chike Akunyili, the husband to the late Dora Akunyili, said Obiano was “a man with a high level of humility and humanity to continue in office”.
He said that Obiano had human feelings and would always want the best for the people.
Obiano, who was present at the occasion promised to always maintain peaceful co-existence between the government and Agulu people.
He said he would continue to respect the legacies of his predecessor, Gov. Peter Obi and even consolidate on APGA structures already established.
“We have paid 100 per cent for the completion of the 5-Star Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu, located by Agulu Lake.
“It will be one of the best east of the Niger, and when completed will create employment as most of the workforce will be drawn from Agulu,
“In addition to employment, five percent profit will go to Agulu as Corporate Social Responsibility,’’ Obiano said.
He urged the people to continue to support his second term bid so as to enable him to complete the work he had started.
