Ahead of July 24 Polls: Chairmanship candidate collates database of unemployed youths
Politics
ADEDAYO Adesoye, the PDP Chairmanship candidate for Amuwo Odofin Local Government (AOLG) Area of Lagos for the July 24 local government polls in Lagos State, says that he has begun collating the data of unemployed youths in the community.
Adesoye said that the collation was to ensure that they benefit from his developmental plans if elected into office.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday that creating the database was aimed at helping him to prioritise and implement some of his plans in his first 100 days in office, if he wins the chairmanship election.
Adesoye said that his experience in serving God and humanity had taught him that planning without having a database of the potential beneficiaries usually ended up in futility.
“We’re collating the data, based on their abilities and capacity.
“The roads and facilities are in deplorable conditions. I am going to do a facelift; we have engineers and other professionals among them that we can engage.
“There are lots of opportunities in AOLG and I’m going to use my influence to see that the youth are engaged,” he said.
He added that before joining the race for the chairmanship position in AOLG, he had always ensured that he reached out to the grassroots through his charitable and philanthropic contributions.
Adesoye said some of his contributions to the community include: scholarships to students, roofing of four apartments gutted by fire and free health checkups during the COVID-19 lockdown for persons who couldn’t access healthcare facilities.
He also said that his past experiences in community public relations; as a former President of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) and as the president of his school’s alumni association had helped procure facilities.
“This include the construction of 18 classrooms block and water purification system,” he said.
Adesoye said that his other plans for the community would include: trainings for artisans and entrepreneurs, digitalisation of security architecture, environmental sanitation and access to community healthcare if voted in on July 24
