AS part of activities lined up to celebrate the forthcoming Christmas, Airtel Nigeria, a telecommunications services provider, on Tuesday fed about 2,000 residents of Oshodi in Lagos State.
The initiative tagged ‘Airtel Five Days of Love’, which commenced in the state on Monday, brought the residents together at the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Secretariat.
The Airtel ‘Five Days of Love’ programme was designed to identify with less privileged persons as well as support the downtrodden in communities where Airtel operates.
Mr Segun Ogunsanya, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, said that the initiative was a demonstration of love and giving, especially during the Christmas period.
“At Airtel, we believe we can spread love during the Christmas season through our ‘Five Days of Love’ programme.
”As a critical stakeholder in Nigeria, we are also passionate about uplifting the less privileged and providing support for the vulnerable.
”This aligns with our overall Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) theme of touching lives and improving the standard of living of the less privileged,’’ he said.
Ogunsanya said that the organisation was currently providing quality hot meals, fun, entertainment and show of love in different Nigerian cities and communities.
He said that Airtel was committed to touching the lives of underprivileged persons in the society as well as empowering stakeholders in its host communities.
Mr Idris Muse-Ariyoh, Chairman of Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area commended Airtel Nigeria for extending its Corporate Social Responsibility to the Oshodi residents
Muse-Ariyoh said that Airtel had demonstrated true love toward the residents by selecting Oshodi as one of the locations for this year’s ‘Five Days of Love’ programme.
The chairman, who noted Airtel’s commitment to touching lives in Nigeria, also appealed to the organisation to support in improving education and health sectors in the area.
Since the commencement of the initiative five years ago, Airtel has partnered with leading fast food vendors to feed over 20,000 people across 25 major cities in Nigeria.
This year’s ‘Five Days of Love” is also being organised in Abeokuta, Onitsha, Karu in Nasarawa State and Maiduguri. (NAN)
