AIRTEL TV, an entertainment content streaming service, has awarded a star prize of N1 million and scholarship to Del-York Creative Academy to Mr Qudus Shokunbi, the winner of its first Super Skit-Maker contest.

The Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr Femi Oshinlaja, announced the winners during the maiden edition of the contest on Wednesday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the star award was followed by additional prizes to other winners and contestants.

The second and third-place winners were presented with cash prizes of N500,000, and N250,000, respectively, alongside film school scholarships to Del-York Creative Academy, a film school in Lagos.

Airtel also gave others in the top 10 most viewed videos branded Airtel TV merchandise.

Oshinlaja said the Airtel TV Super Skit-Makers competition, which was launched in March 2023, was an initiative to recognise and reward the country’s outstanding talents in the emerging online skits genre.

He said the initiative was also aimed at encouraging content creation and exposing young talents in the skit-making industry to its millions of subscribers to help them gain traction.

“Airtel Nigeria is excited to host the Skit-Makers and celebrate the incredible contributions of young skit makers to the comedy genre in particular, and Nigerian entertainment in general.

“We believe in supporting and promoting creativity in Nigeria, and with Airtel TV, we are thrilled to recognise and reward the impact of these talented creators.

“We hope that the prizes will not only serve as a form of recognition for the winners but also as a source of inspiration to other aspiring skit makers,” Oshinlaja said.

Shokunbi said he was grateful to Airtel TV for organising the competition and offering the large prize.

He said the support offered by the company would go a long way in encouraging more youths to produce creative skits. (NAN)
