“THANK you for all the messages but our father is still alive, alhamdulillah. When it is our time we will all die. So, wait first…”

The above were the words of Ajimobi’s daughter-in-law Mrs. Fatima Ganduje-Ajimobi in a tweet to respond to enquiries on the rumoured death of the former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

Also debunking the death report, Ajimobi’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy Bolaji Tunji urged Nigerians urged to disregard the report.

In a statement he issued to debunk the news that went viral on the social media on the passage of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman (South), Tunji said: “My attention has been drawn to the rumours circulating on the social media about my principal, kindly disregard. We however continue to pray for him. Thank you all for the show of concern.”

There was confusion last night across Oyo State over the unsubstantiated report on the former governor’s purported demise.

Some online media claimed that Ajimobi died in Lagos at about 8pm.

Gripped with anxiety, APC members and other stakeholders in the state made telephone calls on the development.
