JOHNY Akinyemi, Nigeria canoeist, is excited at the arrival of his new Olympics boat. Akinyemi, who will represent Nigeria at the Rio Olympics for a second time in the canoe slalom/kayak event at the Rio 2016 Olympics, posted a picture of his boat on Twitter on Wednesday, April 13.

“I got a discount from sponsor Cool Blue Canoes. It’s a great boat. Of course, it’s green white green. The new boat was sponsored with a big discount and the Nigeria Canoe Federation paid the rest, which is good,” he said, asking the National Sports Commission to support him ahead of the Olympics. “I hope the sports commission will be supportive when preparations get into the final phase,” he said.

Akinyemi, who has also been training personally in London, for over two weeks was also happy to be back in his base in Warrington.

The boat, according to reports, cost over £2000 from the Gala Sport in Dublin.
