ALIKO Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH) Wudil, has commended Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State for his achievements in transforming education and other sectors in the state within one year in office.

Prof. Musa Yakasai, Vice Chancellor of the university gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Wudil on Wednesday.

Yakasai said that the unwavering support of the Yusuf-led administration, particularly to ADUSTECH; a state-owned university, had revolutionised and catapulted the institution to new heights.

He noted that the institution had not  experienced such tremendous growth until the advent of Yusuf’s administration.

The vice chancellor highlighted some of the achievement through government’s support to the university to include the conversion of the former Daula Hotel land into a state-of-the-arts ADUSTECH City Campus, installation of fiber optics-based internet and campus-wide internet access to enhance digital learning and research.

Others are the upgrade and installation of cutting-edge equipment at the central research laboratory to foster innovation and discovery, as well as the provision of financial support for the accreditation of 24 programmes.

He said that the management, through government support, had renovated and expanded facilities including students hostels and administrative buildings, installed solar-powered streetlights and provided subsidised transport services for the university community.

On the issue of welfare, the vice chancellor said that staff members were promoted and that their hazard allowance and other entitlements were being paid promptly in appreciation of their hard work and dedication to duty.

Yakasai also noted that university had signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with private and public institutions for partnerships and sponsorships thereby promoting collaboration and growth.

The VC, therefore, said that giving the  achievements, the ADUSTECH community congratulate Gov. Yusuf on his first year in office and looked  forward to the sustenance of the success story.  (NAN)
