The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has approved the appointment of Prof. Onyeka Chijioke as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday by the Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Mrs Folasade Boriowo.

In the statement,  the Minister said the appointment would take effect from Feb. 10 and would last for a maximum period of six months.

Alausa tasked Chijioke to facilitate the process for the emergence of a substantive Vice-Chancellor before the expiration of his tenure.

He said the acting vice Chancellor is, however, not eligible to apply for the position when it is advertised.

Prior to his appointment, Chijioke served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ideato, Imo State, Nigeria.(NAN)
