ABUJA Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has opened bids for no fewer than 40 capital projects within its 2022 financial year.
AMAC Council Secretary, Mr Jafaru Gwagwa, while addressing participants at the bid opening at the council’s secretariat, said the exercise was in line with the administration’s fulfillment of its electoral promises.
Gwagwa, who also doubles as the Chairman, Tenders Board Committee, added that the process was organised to ensure transparency, in compliance with the Public Procurement Act, 2007.
“This exercise is also meant to identify the contractors that are reputably qualified and must have long standing pedigree in contracts and effective service delivery.
“I wish to advise all contract bidders, who do not have the financial, managerial and technical capacities, to have a rethink.
“Aside from other contractual terms successful bidders will have to observe, I wish to reiterate that our administration has the penchant for quality, discipline and precision.
“We will not tolerate any contractor who cannot abide by our terms. Whoever succeeds, our watchwords are: quality, timeliness and trust,” he said.
Also speaking, AMAC’s Head of Procurement, Mrs Esther Ogunleye, said that the Department of Works would deploy better monitoring and evaluation techniques in all the projects.
She stated that all the projects would be executed with the council’s internally-generated revenue (IGR) as well as monthly allocation from the Federal Government.
Ogunleye also called on the successful bidders to adhere to specifications and deliver quality jobs. (NAN)
