Ambassadors: APC diaspora chairmen urge Tinubu to consider competent members

THE All Progressives Congress (APC), Italy Chapter, has urged President Bola Tinubu to appoint competent and well-versed party members who are diaspora chairmen as Nigerian Ambassadors in their respective countries to foster diplomatic relations.
Mr Chima Ibezim, APC Chairman, Italy Chapter and Financial Director, Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (CDC), said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Bola Tinubu on Sept. 2 recalled all ambassadors, both career and non-career.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari had in July 2020 appointed 41 non-career ambassadors and 42 career ambassadors to man the nation’s foreign diplomatic mission.
Ibezim said appointing these chairmen in their respective countries was rewarding because most of them were well grounded on issues of their host countries and Nigeria.
The chairman stated that this would act as a catalyst to actualisation of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of Tinubu’s administration.
“Appointing competent diaspora chairmen as ambassadors in their respective countries especially Europe, Americas, Africa and Asia will serve part of the renewed hope agenda of the president.
“This will further give APC a new lease of life and to tap into the enormous qualities of the diaspora party content.
“Additionally, this will in turn reward more party loyalty and better inclusion of the immense qualitative diaspora content of our country,” he said.
Ibezim praised the Tinubu-led administration for choosing qualitative and well meaningful individuals in its appointments so far. (NAN)
