AMDF gets female Executive Director

THE Board of Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF), has approved the appointment of Mrs Sekyen Dadik, as the substantive Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation.
In a letter signed by the Founder and Chairman of AMDF, Mr Iliya Kure, Dadik’s appointment takes effect from Jan. 1.
Kure said the appointee had worked as a full-time journalist in Nigeria before delving into media development work.
He explained that prior to her appointment, Dadik was the Deputy Executive Director of the foundation since March 2018, and had been its Acting Executive Director since June, 2022.
“She was also the Programmes Coordinator of the Foundation, a leading media development organisation in northern Nigeria, from 2015 to 2018.
“She has been involved in the training of journalists in Nigeria on development journalism, investigative journalism, and peace journalism, among others.
“Dadik has passion for Development and Advocacy journalism, and seeks to engage the media in amplifying the voices of citizens. She values integrity, truth, and professionalism,” Kure said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Dadik is a Member of the Network of Nigerian Facilitators, the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), and has led projects towards rebuilding trust and peaceful coexistence.
She is also a member of Institute for War and Peace Reporting’s Africa Resilience Network (ARN) programme, on uncovering misinformation on COVID-19 vaccines.
She holds a Master of Science Degree in Conflict Management and Peace Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication, both from the University of Jos, Nigeria. (NAN)
