Anambra 2021 election is consequential -- Soludo
Politics
IT was a huge celebration at the Anambra State Secretariat of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, as a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, declared his interest to join the governorship race scheduled for Nov. 6.
Before now various support groups of the former CBN Governor had on several occasions pleaded with him to contest in order to help the continued transformation of Anambra State. Some of the Support groups include United Anambra Youth Assembly, U-AYA, and United Anambra Women Assembly, U-AWA, were organised by a member representing Anambra East and West at the National Assembly, Chinedu Obidigwe. In a speech while declaring his interest, Prof Soludo noted that his political dream had been to create wealth and provide various opportunities that would empower every Anambra person, rich and poor. Soludo, who said that the forthcoming election would determine the future of the state, called on the APGA faithful to deploy measures that would ensure victory for the party. “My mission is to work with all members of the party, to spread the party across Nigeria. I will turn APGA from a political party into a cooperative movement. “Anambra vision 2070 is a 50-year plan that will make the state livable and prosperous for our children. “The election is consequential and no APGA member must joke with the election. APGA over the past 15 years has taken Anambra into global heights. “In spite of declining receipts from the Federation Account, the state wants to complete an International Airport City, Conference centre, stadium and other facilities. “Our target is to empower not less than a million youths every year; the poor will be given a series of opportunities to transform their lives. “We need to consolidate the lofty economic policies of Gov. Willie Obiano. It is a collective responsibility. “I grew up from a poor background and God has blessed me beyond imagination and now I use myself as a vehicle to touch and transform the state,’’ Soludo said. The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Uche Okafor, said the future of the state was paramount and must not be jeopardised. “It is not about us, but the future of our children and Soludo is the answer to the future of our children.’’ Obidigwe in summing up said that Anambra was not broken; and called on the party faithful to consolidate on the achievements of Gov. Obiano. – Feb. 20, 2021 @ 15:35 GMT |
